Home Elliptical Cross Trainers

A variety of workout machine options are available these days to workout. You don’t need to regularly workout in a gym. Workout can now be performed in a comfort environment of your home. One of workout machine is home elliptical cross trainer. There are some factors that should be considered when buying a home cross elliptical trainer.

The basic factor is budget. How much are you willing to pay for an elliptical cross-trainer? There are cross-trainers available from as low as $200 to as high as $4000. But more expensive models have additional features which are not really used by the user. So the key behind is to make a list of those features which you are going to use or limit your budget will automatically limit features. One example can be inclination option. Some have this option while others lack this option.  With inclination option, user can vary workout angles as well as adjust pedals to a more natural stride alignment. . Inclination option can make your workout more challenging.

One advantage of some good models is that it offers total body workout, working on upper and lower body simultaneously. Workload is another factor. Look for durable machines if many family members are going to use it which increases machine workload.

Secondly, read the reviews of both professional and customer’s reviews to get a clear idea of the product you are thinking of buying. Many websites offer customers review which can be very helpful when deciding.

Another important factor is stride length. Most low-cost elliptical cross trainers have short stride length of only about 14 inches which is not suitable for even average height person so individual should prefer to buy an elliptical trainer of stride length of atleast 21 inches. Some elliptical cross trainers come with variable stride length. Also if many family members are going to use variable stride length is very helpful.

Another factor is crank arm. Preferably a home elliptical trainer should have a crank arm attached to it to not only maintain balance but also provide a total body workout.

Smoothness is another factor to take into consideration. You don’t want to workout on a trainer which is jerky, unstable or rough. Also noise is another factor. You don’t want a noisy elliptical trainer in your home. So before you buy an elliptical trainer, make a test run to make sure you are satisfied.

Space is another factor. Before you decide to buy an elliptical trainer, decide where you are going to put your trainer in you home and how much space is available. There are some elliptical trainers that are very large in size and thus require more space so when deciding to buy do consider space. Normally, an elliptical cross-trainer is 80 to 90 inches long and about 24 to 36 inches wide.

Other important features that most home elliptical equipment includes are heart rate monitor, built-in workout session, speed, distance, time, calories burnt etc. But, again, depending on your budget elliptical trainers can either have more or less features.
